Since early 2019, I have worked tirelessly to build my dream farm. 

Now that it is well underway, I wanted to share my experiences with those of you who are starting your own similar journies into smallholding. 

During the workshops, we'll cover many practical aspects of livestock management from paperwork and getting started to basic care and fencing. We'll also touch on self sustainability, growing produce and working with the natural world around you. See our event schedule for a breakdown of activities.

What do the days look like?

--Saturday--

9.30am - Arrive followed by

- Introductions

- Group discussions around what kind of set up you currently have, what level of smallholding are you at and where do you aim to be/what do you need to get there.

- Paperwork and legal responibilities

- Lunch

- A look at what basic tools and equipment are absolutely essential when starting up

- Choosing Livestock, where to buy and how to transport

- Tour of our Farm

- Meet the Animals up close

- Q&A over coffee and cake

- 4:30pm Finish

--Sunday--

9:30am - Arrive (or 8:30am if you want to join us whilst we feed and water the beasts)

- Livestock: Basic health care and medication, tagging etc

- Fencing: equipment, materials and logistics

- Lunch

- A basic look at butchery and types of cuts

- Getting hands on with the animals and checking basic health

- Feedback over tea/coffee and cake

- 5:00pm Finish

Further Information

Cost: £75per person (minimum 2 persons per booking), which includes in-depth literature, homemade  lunches, locally made cakes and refreshments on either of the days.

Booking: 

Simply select the ticket showing the date you require and complete the registration form to complete.

Accommodation: 

If you are travelling a disatnce to attend, you will be welcome to camp overnight. This booking allows a spot for you to pitch a tent as your accomodation however, the tent itself is not included. If a tent is needed, we can offer either a yurt or a bell tent at an additional cost for the Saturday night (and friday night if needed) alternatively, there are some great airbnbs and B&Bs close by.
