About the Event
So, What exactly do we do?
We try to make each of our Workshop Sessions different to the last but, to a certain extent, our plans are dictacted by the weather we are given on the day.
Our activities include:
-Animal Care
- Feeding and caring for our animals: Pigs, Sheep, Chickens, Ducks and Turkeys
-Woodland HikesÂ
- When on our trail, the children will learn to identify different species of both flora and faunaÂ
- Our hikes go from our Farm in Shepton, all the way to Croscombe
-Sowing Seeds
- The children will learn all about where fruit and vegetables come from and how to grow it themselves
-Crafting
- During our crafting sessions, children may build bird boxes, insect habitats or test their skills in boat building to construct a craft that will float down our stream
-Art
- Our art sessions encourage the children to paint, make and create things that they see around them; be that the landscape or one of the animals
-Dam Building
- We are really fortunate to have many natural and man made streams in the woods that surrounds our farm. These give the children chance to get creative (& often very wet) in the skill of dam building. Often, the best part is breaking it down afterwards.
-MindfulnessÂ
- Rock Farm Somerset (we we farm) is home to an amazing quarry which is a peaceful, magical place. Here is where we teach the children about mindfulness and meditation. We do this to give them a sense of their own mental awareness.
-Games in the Quarry
- A firm Favourite with all the children is our Quarry Games. The last 30 minutes of each session give the kids chance to let off any remaining steam and play a multitude of games.
